MIKE BIRBIGLIA

MIKE BIRBIGLIA
FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2023 8PM

"A comedian and artful storyteller at the top of his game"- Entertainment Weekly

Mike Birbiglia, fresh off Broadway, will perform LIVE for one night only.  An award-winning comedian, storyteller, actor, and writer Mike Birbiglia has solidified himself as a "phenomenally gifted storyteller" (South Pasadenan), presenting a perfect concoction of incisive wit, uproarious observations, and heartfelt revelations the New York Times deemed "genius [and] sublime.” His five solo shows have played to audiences on and off Broadway, and venues across the world from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House.

Birbiglia just finished a sold-out 85-performance Broadway run of his new show “The Old Man and the Pool” at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center.

Birbiglia earned Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for his Broadway debut in his one-person show The New One. Selling out Broadway's Cort Theatre for 99 performances, the New York Times deemed the show a Critics' Pick, while Vogue called it "a life-affirming piece of work." This past fall, Birbiglia returned to Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre for nine weeks, selling out the house in an unprecedented run with his newest show, The Old Man and The Pool. Named the Best Comedy of 2022 by The New York Times, The Old Man and the Pool arrived on Broadway following sold-out, extended engagements at Chicago's famed Steppenwolf Theater and L.A.'s Mark Taper Forum.

Premiering his first solo show, Sleepwalk With Me, in 2008, the performance went on to sell out houses off-broadway and internationally. Adapting the show into a feature film, which he wrote, directed, and starred in, Sleepwalk With Me won the NEXT Audience Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. A New York Times Bestselling Author, Birbiglia adapted Sleepwalk With Me and The New One into critically acclaimed collections of essays. His specials Thank God For Jokes, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, What I Should Have Said and The New One are all streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Beyond the stage, Birbiglia has established himself as an actor with extensive film credits, including the upcoming A Man Called Otto opposite Tom Hanks, Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and The Fault in Our Stars, along with appearances in shows like Orange is the New Black and Billions and, most recently, appearing as Taylor Swift's son in the music video for her single Anti-Hero. He is also the host of the podcast Working it Out and the writer, director, and star of the film Don't Think Twice.
