EMERSON STRING QUARTET OCT 2022
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2022 7PM
After 30 recordings and 9 Grammy Awards, the world-renowned Emerson String Quartet begins their last full year together before embarking on their new individual ventures. The first concert of their final season begins with an early Mendelssohn work, his dramatic String Quartet No. 1 in E-flat major, Op. 12. This is followed by another early work, Alban Berg’s ground-breaking quartet from 1910, written when the composer was only 25, and was forging a new language that connected the end of romanticism with the beginning of atonality. Their concert concludes with Dvorak’s last quartet - No. 14 in A♭ major, Op. 105 - which he he began during his three year tenure in America, and only finished months after he returned to his Czech homeland. You do not want to miss this chance to both hear and see one of the worlds best String Quartets as they perform these treasures in our intimate Staller Center Recital Hall.
